This exquisite vintage conch shell brooch is signed "G Noto" on the back, by Italian master carver Giovanni Noto (1902-1985). Noto, known as “o’ Professor” (the Teacher), was celebrated as the finest carver at the Giovanni Apa studio, where he managed and mentored other artisans. The hand-carved cameo showcases a charming depiction of the Three Graces. Measuring about 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches, the piece is set in a 14k gold frame with both a pin backing and a hinged bale, allowing it to be worn as either a brooch or pendant. There is a small scratch on the back of the gold rim on the left side facing the brooch.
